چکیده

Present review on the topic explores the different techniques of spherical agglomeration employed in pharmaceutical sciences and their potential applications in developing new particulate systems of drug. Spherical agglomeration is a particle engineering technique which transforms the fine crystals into spherical particles in a single step. These techniques applied in development of new systems of drug delivery. Using various techniques of spherical agglomeration, several drugs have been modified for micromeritics, compression properties as well as solubility and dissolution of poorly soluble drugs. Different methods of characterization of spherical agglomeration were also examined. These techniques have been used to modify pharmaceutical processing, drug product performances and bioavailability issues.

A New Crystal Engineering Technique for Dissolution Enhancement of Poorly Soluble Drugs Combining Quasi-emulsion and Crystallo-co Agglomeration Methods

A target of best dissolution improvement of poorly soluble drugs is a necessity for the success of formulation in industry. The present work describes the preparation, optimization, and evaluation of a new spherical agglomeration technique for glimepiride as a model of poorly soluble drugs. It involved the emulsification of a drug solution containing a dispersed carrier that tailors the crystal...

Truncated Hepatitis B virus like nanoparticles: A novel drug delivery platform for cancer therapy

Nowadays, Nano-sized drug delivery systems have been studied extensively for theirpotential in cancer therapy. Various drug nanocarriers are being developed including liposomes, micelles, and Virus like nanoparticles (VLNPs). VLNPs offer many advantages for developing smart drug delivery systems due to their precise and repeated structures and relatively large cargo capacities. Truncated ...

Preparation and Characterization of PCL-PEG-PCL Copolymeric Nanoparticles as Polymersomes for Delivery Hydrophilic Drugs

Background: A novel drug delivery system using poly (ε-caprolactone) - poly (ethylene glycol) -poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL-PEG-PCL) was established in this study. Methods: Ceftriaxone (CTX) was encapsulated within PCL-PEG-PCL nanoparticles by a double emulsion technique (w/o/w), leading to creation of ceftriaxone-loaded PCL-PEG-PCL (CTX/PCL-PEG-PCL) polymersomes. The resulting polymersomes...

Preparation of Ethylcellulose Coated Gelatin Microspheres as a Multiparticulate Colonic Delivery System for 5-Aminosalicilic Acid

In the long-term management of ulcerative colitis patients, repeat dosing maybe required. Since 5-ASA is largely absorbed from the upper intestine, selective delivery of drugs into the colon may be regarded as a better method of drug delivery with fewer side effects and a higher efficacy. The aim of this study was to prepare and evaluate a double coated multiparticulate system for 5-ASA deliver...
